Idea or playbook

A Quarterly Website Content Check-Up

For: Marketing · Difficulty: Beginner

The problem: Your website says one thing, and your business does another. Old hours, retired services, last year's prices, and broken links quietly cost you customers.

What you end up with: A quarterly list of what's outdated or unclear on your website, with suggested rewrites for each page, ready for you to approve and update.

What you'll need

Your website address, a current fact sheet (hours, services, prices, service area, contact details), and access to edit your site.

Getting set up

When did you last check that your website still matches your business? Here's a playbook built from what each tool's official docs say it can do. First, pick a tool. xAI says Grok Bot uses your apps and websites just like you would, so it can read through your site page by page. Squarespace lists built-in AI tools on every website plan. Google says Gemini in Docs can create first drafts that match your tone. Next, write a one-page fact sheet with your current details. Then, list the pages that matter most. And last, the AI flags and drafts. You approve and update the site.

Step by step

  1. Give the AI your website address and fact sheet.
  2. Have it read each main page and compare it with the fact sheet.
  3. Ask it to list anything outdated, missing, or unclear, page by page.
  4. Have it check for broken links and dead-end pages.
  5. Ask for a suggested rewrite for each problem.
  6. Review every suggestion, and keep your own voice.
  7. Update the site and note the date for next quarter.

A prompt to start with

Here's a prompt to start with. Adjust it to fit your tool. "Read these pages on my website: [pages]. Compare them with this fact sheet: [facts]. For each page, list anything outdated, missing, or unclear, plus any broken links. Then suggest a short rewrite for each issue in a friendly, plain tone. Don't change facts that aren't in my fact sheet."

What you'll get

A page-by-page list of issues, broken links, and suggested rewrites.

If something goes wrong

If it can't read some pages, paste the text in. If rewrites sound generic, include an example of your own writing. If the list is long, fix the homepage and contact page first.

Keep in mind

You're responsible for what your website says. Check prices, legal notices, and policies carefully before publishing. Don't let an AI publish changes without your review.
