Updating Your Holiday Hours Everywhere at Once

For: Marketing · Difficulty: Beginner

The problem: It's the week before Thanksgiving. Your door sign says one thing, your website another, and a customer shows up to a locked door.

What you end up with: One holiday hours list, with matching posts, a website note, a door sign, and a reminder to set them back afterward.

What you'll need

Your holiday dates and hours, and a list of everywhere your hours appear.

Getting set up

Where do customers check your hours? Make a list first: your Google Business Profile, website, social pages, booking page, door, and phone greeting. Google lists Gemini in Docs, and Microsoft says Copilot works inside Word. Example: a neighborhood salon is closed on Thanksgiving, opens late on Black Friday, and has extended hours the week before Christmas. The owner lists those dates once. The AI writes an Instagram post, a website banner, a door sign, and a phone greeting that all match. The owner ticks off seven places on the checklist, including the booking page most people forget. Step by step

  1. Write your holiday hours in one simple list.
  2. List every place your hours appear.
  3. Ask the AI for a short post, a website note, a door sign, and a phone greeting.
  4. Check every date and day of the week.
  5. Update each place, and tick it off your list.
  6. Set a reminder to switch hours back.
  7. Keep the list for next year.

A prompt to start with

Here's a prompt to start with. Adjust it to fit your tool. "Here are my holiday hours: [dates and hours]. Write a friendly social post, a short website note, a door sign, and a 20-second phone greeting. Keep the dates and hours exactly as I wrote them, and include the day of the week for each date."

What you'll get

A set of matching holiday hours messages and a checklist of places to update. You'll also have a reminder date to put your regular hours back. Time it takes: about 30 minutes for the messages, and 20 minutes to update every place. Sample door sign (made up): "Holiday hours: Thu, Nov 26: Closed for Thanksgiving. Fri, Nov 27: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular hours return Sat, Nov 28."

If something goes wrong

If a date and day of the week don't match, check a calendar and fix your list. If you forget a spot, add it to your list for next year. If customers still show up during closed hours, check your Google Business Profile and booking page first. If the phone greeting is too long, ask for a 15-second version.

Keep in mind

Double-check dates yourself. AI can mix up days of the week. Make it a habit: keep your holiday checklist in the same doc each year, and add the switch-back date to your calendar.
