Lead Research Service

Note: Any money examples here are hypothetical. We're not promising anyone will earn anything.

An idea for a service: find and research good-fit prospects for small B2B businesses, with agents doing the digging and you checking every lead.

The idea

Help small B2B businesses find and research good-fit prospects, with AI agents doing the digging and you delivering a clean, checked list and short briefs the owner can act on.

Who it's for

Small service businesses that sell to other businesses, like agencies, consultants, IT providers, and commercial cleaners, that know who they want to work with but never have time to research them.

The problem you solve

They know their ideal customer, but building a list of real prospects with accurate details takes hours. So outreach happens in random bursts, or not at all.

How you help

A monthly research service. You use an agent tool to find and research businesses that match the client's ideal customer. Gumloop, for example, lists lead generation and lead enrichment among its uses. Then you check the results and deliver a list with a short brief for each prospect. The owner decides who to contact and how.

How it works, step by step

Here's how it could work, step by step (it's an outline, not a case study):

  1. Work with the owner to write down their ideal customer in plain words.
  2. Agree on sources: public business info and websites only.
  3. Have an agent build a draft list and a short brief for each business.
  4. Check the list yourself, remove poor fits, and mark anything unconfirmed.
  5. Deliver the list and briefs each month.
  6. Ask which leads turned into conversations, and refine the ideal-customer notes.

Ways to get paid

Common ways to charge (just examples, not our earnings): a monthly fee for a set number of researched prospects, or a per-list fee. We're not quoting dollar amounts as market rates. Any numbers you use are hypothetical until you test them in your own market. Never promise a number of sales or meetings.

What you need to get started

You'll want good research instincts, comfort with at least one agent tool, a basic understanding of the privacy and email rules where you and your clients work, and a simple agreement that the owner handles all outreach.

Keeping it running

Use public information only, check every lead before you deliver it, keep client lists private, and keep an eye on each tool's pricing and features, since these change.

Things to watch out for

Watch out for out-of-date info, clients who want to blast cold emails to everyone, and anything that crosses privacy lines. Keep lists small and accurate, keep the owner in charge of outreach, and follow the rules that apply to contacting businesses.
