An idea for a service: a one-page weekly business report for busy owners, with agents gathering the numbers and you checking and explaining them.
The idea
Give busy owners a clear, one-page weekly report on how their business is doing, with AI agents pulling the numbers together and you checking and explaining them.
Who it's for
Small business owners who have data spread across their sales, marketing, and accounting tools but never have time to pull it into one place.
The problem you solve
The numbers are all there, in five different apps. Pulling them together takes hours, so the owner makes decisions on gut feel or not at all.
How you help
A monthly retainer. You set up an agent routine with a tool like Gumloop, which lists scheduled reports and dashboards, or Lindy, which says you can hand it a Monday report on a schedule. Each week, the agent gathers the numbers. You check them, add a few plain-English notes, and send the owner a one-page report.
Tools you'd use
How it works, step by step
Here's how it could work, step by step (it's an outline, not a case study):
- Meet with the owner and pick five to eight numbers that matter most.
- List where each number lives, and get read-only access where you can.
- Set up an agent routine that collects those numbers each week.
- Have it draft a one-page summary, with what changed since last week.
- Check every number against its source, and write two or three notes on what stands out.
- Send the report and keep a short monthly call to adjust what's tracked.
Ways to get paid
Common ways to charge (just examples, not our earnings): a setup fee, then a monthly retainer for the weekly reports. We're not quoting dollar amounts as market rates. Any numbers you use are hypothetical until you test them in your own market. Make sure the client knows the tools have their own costs, too.
What you need to get started
You'll want comfort with spreadsheets and basic business numbers, at least one agent or automation tool you know well, and a simple agreement covering data access and privacy.
Keeping it running
Stick to a weekly schedule, check every number before it goes out, keep access read-only, and keep an eye on each tool's pricing and features, since these change.
Things to watch out for
Watch out for messy source data, tools that change their exports, and reports that grow until nobody reads them. Keep it to one page, and keep your own check on every number.
