One Bot is handy. But xAI's pitch is that you can run several, like a small team. So how do they share work without stepping on each other? Here's how it works, in plain English, from xAI's official Grok Bot page and guides, checked on Oct 28, 2026.
One shared computer
In xAI's words: "Every Grok Bot shares one persistent cloud computer. Your Bots share that machine (files, browser, logins), so they can hand work off and keep context. Isolation is per user, not per Grok Bot."
Here's what that means for you:
- Persistent: the computer keeps its files and logins between tasks, so you don't start from scratch each time.
- Shared: a file one Bot makes, or a site one Bot signs in to, is there for your other Bots too.
- Per user: your Bots share with each other, and the walls sit between you and other users.
xAI adds that the cloud computer is encrypted in transit and at rest, with training opt-out, and that sensitive actions can go through Auto Review before they run. Our security and privacy guide covers this in more depth.
Many Bots, each with a job
xAI suggests you create a Bot, give it a task, and add another when the work grows: "one on a project, one on outbound, one on systems." It says they work in parallel, collaborate where it makes sense, and keep working 24/7, even when your laptop is closed.
Connect the Bots
xAI says you can put a few Bots in the same thread, and they pass work between themselves. You watch them take action instead of approving every step. xAI also says Bots keep context and learn from each other. Show one a workflow today, and hand off the project by Friday.
Templates and team patterns
xAI's guides page adds two related ideas:
- Templates: xAI says templates share a Bot "as a recipe, not a clone," and its guide covers what gets packaged, how to publish one, and how to install someone else's.
- Multiple teams of Bots: one guide describes giving each project a channel, a roster, and a Notion board. xAI calls it an experimental pattern.
Tips for a small team of Bots: our suggestions
These are our ideas, not xAI's.
- Give each Bot one clear job and a name that says what it does.
- Since your Bots share logins, connect only the accounts the work really needs.
- Keep shared files tidy, with one folder per job, so a hand-off is easy to follow.
- Keep your approval on anything that sends, spends, posts, or deletes.
- Check in weekly. If two Bots keep doing the same thing, merge them.
