Before you hand an AI teammate real work, it's smart to ask: what happens to my data? Here's what xAI says on its official Grok Bot page (checked Oct 27, 2026), in plain English.
What xAI says about your data
- Same sign-in and privacy mode. Grok Bot uses the same Cursor SSO (one company login), auth, and privacy mode.
- Encrypted cloud computer. Your Bot's cloud computer is encrypted in transit and at rest. That means while data is moving and while it's stored.
- Training opt-out. You can opt out of training.
- Auto Review. Sensitive actions can go through Auto Review before they run.
- Admin controls for Enterprise. Admins can set DLP (data loss prevention, rules that keep private info from leaking), certificates, proxies, and network controls at boot.
You stay in the loop
xAI says Bots come back when your approval is needed. When you connect a few Bots in one thread, you watch them take action instead of approving every step, so it's worth deciding up front which steps you want to approve yourself.
Questions to ask before you hand off real work
This part is our own simple checklist, an idea to adapt to your business:
- Which apps will the Bot log into? Start with only the ones the job needs.
- Which actions need my OK? Anything that sends, spends, or can't be undone is a good place to start.
- Who on my team can see the work? Decide who should have access before you start.
- Does my business have rules about customer data? If so, check them, and talk to your admin about the Enterprise controls above.
