Google posts its Workspace changes on the official Workspace Updates blog. Here are the AI items most useful to small businesses, from the posts we read on Oct 28, 2026.
Sheets: Fill with Gemini now shows its sources (October 28 post). When you use the AI function to generate cell values, Google says Gemini now shows the exact web sources it referenced in each cell, so you can check them. Google also says it now handles up to 3,000 cells per request. It's rolling out gradually from October 20, and Google lists it for Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and some add-ons and consumer plans.
Gemini in Sheets on iPhone (October 23 weekly recap). Google says you can now use Gemini in Google Sheets on iOS to analyze your data on the go, following the Android launch.
Meeting recaps in Google Chat (October 23 weekly recap). Google is introducing meeting recaps that give a summary directly in Google Chat, to help teams move from planning to action.
Publish Gemini apps to Google Sites (October 23 weekly recap). Google says you can export interactive apps built in the Gemini app to Google Sites in one click, as a private draft you can customize and publish.
A customize hub in the Gemini app (October 23 weekly recap). Google describes one place to tailor how Gemini responds and connects with your tools, including adding skills for things like your writing style.
What this means for you: First, if you use AI to fill spreadsheet cells, check the new source links before you rely on the results. Next, check whether your plan includes these features, since availability varies. Then, try one feature at a time with real work.
