Getting pinged on your phone while you're sitting at your desk? Grok Bot tries to notify you in the right place. Here's what xAI's changelog says about notifications, checked on Oct 28, 2026.
Phone or computer?
- Where you are: the changelog says while you use Grok Bot on a Mac or Windows PC, Bot replies and questions notify you there instead of your phone.
- Viewing a Bot: your phone skips notifications for a Bot you're viewing on your computer, and resumes them once the computer locks, sleeps, or sits idle.
- Once each: your phone notifies you about each Bot reply only once, and never for Bot chats you've deleted.
- Right away: notifications arrive as soon as a Bot sends a message, instead of only when it finishes working.
Per-Bot settings and badges
Per the changelog, the per-Bot notification switch says the Bot is waiting for you, and muted Bots don't add to the dock badge. The dock badge counts unread conversations instead of unread messages. Desktop notifications close once you read the reply or the Bot stops waiting.
Routine posts
xAI says when a Bot posts to Slack for you, such as from a routine, your phone isn't notified and its unread badge doesn't go up. More on that in our routines guide.
Keeping it calm: our suggestions
These are our ideas, not xAI's.
- Mute Bots that only run background routines, and check them once a day.
- Keep notifications on for Bots that ask for approvals, so nothing waits too long.
- Get the mobile app from Support in the account menu, which xAI says lists Get Grok Bot for mobile.
