Getting set up

According to Amazon: sign in with your Amazon account and use Alexa+ on a compatible Echo, Fire TV, or Alexa tablet, in the Alexa app, or at Alexa.com.

The plain-English overview

Already have an Echo on the shop counter or in the office? Alexa+ is Amazon's newest AI assistant. From Amazon's Alexa+ page, here's the short version, as of Oct 28, 2026.

What Amazon lists:

  • Thinks things through: Amazon says Alexa+ can think through complex information, cut out extra steps, and get more done for you every day.
  • Natural conversation: it chats naturally, and you can switch topics or ask for several things in one request.
  • Where it runs: compatible Echo devices, Fire TV, Alexa tablets, the Alexa app, and Alexa.com.
  • Updates: Amazon says Alexa+ Update 12 is rolling out now, first on select Amazon devices.

Who it's for: owners who already use Echo devices and want a hands-free helper for quick questions, reminders, and smart home control.

Good to know: Alexa+ is built for home and personal use. Think about who can hear it before you ask about customers or money in a shared space.

Picture this: you run a small bakery with an Echo in the back kitchen. With flour on your hands, you say, "Set a timer for the sourdough, remind me at 2 to call the dairy supplier, and add parchment paper to my shopping list." Amazon says Alexa+ handles several requests at once, so that can be one sentence instead of three. (Our illustration, based on what Amazon lists.)

Questions to ask before you start:

  • Where will the device sit? A back room is better than the front counter for anything private.
  • Who can use it? Decide which staff can add to lists or set reminders.
  • Do you already pay for Prime? Amazon says full access is included with Prime, which may settle the cost question for you.

Try it this week: 1. Use it only for timers and reminders for a few days. 2. Add a shared supply list once the team is used to it. 3. Check the Alexa app each week to clear old reminders and lists.
